3 Ways Into a More Vibrant Daily Life

meditation

Memorable milestones, parenting obligations, traveling, socializing, career goals and other life experiences all require a healthy amount of vitality. But keeping up with the pace of ever-changing environments and situations is vital for staying above water. The same is true for how we want our minds and bodies to operate.

It is such an exciting time to live in the digital era, where everything is at optimal speeds. To many people, vitality is the natural energy that resonates from inside. Maintaining positive nutrition, an active daily lifestyle, healthy relationships and a stress-free mindset are important to our natural energy.

The primary way the average American replenishes their energy is through consuming caffeine. Coffee actually provides long-term health benefits, such as reduced risk of Type 2 diabetes and reduced risk for developing Alzheimer’s or dementia. However, many people find it hard to maintain energy throughout the day without coffee or energy drinks.

The need for staying energized has increased people’s reliance upon unhealthy methods for doing so. Abuse of chemical stimulants has increased steadily. Even signs of Adderall addiction have been found in everyone from young teens to working mothers to older adults. What are some natural ways to feel full of light everyday? Everyone has to discover their own “chi,” but how?

Here are some starting points:

Mindfulness and Meditation

It seems that meditation has been all the rage for the past decade or two. Meditation does provide immediate relevant health benefits, such as stress management and improved mental clarity. Medicine and science are now on the mindfulness and meditation wave. UCLA Health established a Mindful Awareness Research Center that offers free guided meditation for beginners.

Diet and Supplements

A poor diet can lead to a lack of essential nutrients that the body naturally produces. A good multivitamin, in addition to a few supplements with breakfast or a snack, can be beneficial. Some of the popular brain power and energy supplements are fish oil (or omega 3s), B12, B6 and folic acid. Other supplements found in nature that you can try are rhodiola rosea, American ginkgo and l-theanine. Consult your doctor before including any new vitamins or supplements in your diet. If you prefer to avoid pills, here are a few food suggestions instead–dark chocolate, nuts (almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds and walnuts), blueberries, lean meats and salmon.

Playing Video Games

Video games are no longer just for your younger sibling or teenagers. Surprisingly, studies now are finding that this childhood hobby has benefits for the average adult, with moderate use. Action-packed video games have been shown to lead to improved performance in perception, attention, and cognition. The skills required to stay engaged and navigate video games activate regions of the brain responsible for optimal brain performance. So try getting your feet wet with some Lara Croft Tomb Raider video games.
