How To Understand The Expressions Of Consciousness

Everything we do involves some forms of emotion (energy in motion) and understanding your emotions is essential for unraveling many mysteries of life. Once you learn how to use your emotions to help you understand your life experiences, achieving your goals and finding happiness will be much easier.

What Are Emotions?

Most dictionary defines emotions as states of consciousness in which joy, love, sorrow, fear, hate, or the like is experienced. In other words, emotions are expressions of consciousness that help you understand and relate to what you are experiencing. Like the mind, emotion has its own ways of helping you understand your world. It does this by allowing you to feel what you are experiencing and therefore it can help you understand life beyond what your mind can comprehend. The key here is to learn how to unify your mind and emotion, so that they can work together instead of fighting each other.

In general, there are two groups of emotions. According to Paul Thagard, “emotions are either the result of a judgment of any current situation or a perception of changes taking place within our bodies.” In simpler terms, when we experience fear or joy, it could be the result of how we view the situation. On the other hand, the emotion could be the result of chemical and physiological changes in our body. The problem with these two views of emotion is that they tend to create conflict and separation. To understand our emotions better, we need to combine these two views.

Each of us emotionally respond to certain situation differently. For example, some people may experience fear when they see a snake and other people may feel excitement. Because of this, we need to study emotions from a subjective, physiological, and expressive point of view. This will help each of us to understand how an individual experience, react, and behave to different states of emotion.

How Do Emotions Work?

Scientists and psychologists still don’t understand how emotions are truly generated. However, in the last few decades, many new discoveries are helping them unravel some important aspects of how emotions are produced. There are many scientific ways of explaining the nature of emotions. Some of the two most common methods are based on judgement and physiological changes in our body.

The method based on judgement suggests that emotions and how we judge things are closely intertwined. For example, when we are happy, it is because our opinion of certain necessities and needs are being satisfied. On the other hand, we feel sad when our opinion of certain necessities and needs aren’t being satisfied.

As for the method based on physiological changes, emotions are perceptions of physiological changes in the body, such as hormone levels, heart rate, perspiration, and breathing rate. In other words, emotions are generated from physiological changes in the body in response to external stimuli. Supporters of this method argue that the state of being happy is the result of physiological perception, not because of a judgment.

The problem with these two explanations of how emotions work is that they don’t explain how emotions are generated at the fundamental levels. Scientists are well aware that our body is made of matter and that matter is made of atoms and subatomic particles. However, they have little clue as to how atoms “transform” into matter and how this process affect physiological changes in our body. To understand how emotions truly work, we need to study how they function at the quantum level, because this is one of the fundamental levels where emotions “pop” into existence.

Why Do We Have Emotions?

The main reason why we have emotions is to help us understand life beyond logic. Without emotions we would see the world as a dull and lifeless place due to the fact that we would act like robots. Besides helping us sense beauty and life, emotions can help us to communicate better, empathize with others, relieve stress, overcome challenges, and protect us from danger.

Since emotions play such a big role in our life, if we learn to understanding them and use them in a constructive kind of way, we can relate better to other people, create better relationships, achieve our goals quicker, and find our purpose in life. As a result, we will feel happier and have less emotional and psychological problems.

Emotions are some of your greatest gifts because without them you would lack creativity, compassion, and intelligence. If you want to understand life beyond your wildest dream, you need to learn to embrace your emotions instead of suppressing them. You also need to learn to release emotions that are causing you discomfort.
