Message From Spirit Re Time – A Path to Happiness
Funny enough, I had the very topic I wanted to write about clearly in my mind, “Emotional Baggage.” However, Spirit had other ideas. It seems there is a much more important message that needs to be expressed!
“What is important to you? Do you focus on what really means the world to you or do you lose your focus in the ‘busy-ness’ of today’s world?”
Everyone is getting lost in a world of technology, work and just doing! Where is the down time you look forward to at the end of the day and at weekends? There is definitely not enough precious time spent with family and friends.
No wonder we see children misbehaving at school and at home. They are craving quality time with their parents. In a child’s mind, any attention suits them. So if they do not receive appropriate attention, they will misbehave and get it that way.
Look at your life and see if this has some meaning for you. If it does, take some action in some way. Be more conscious of time spent with family. Have ‘no technology days’. Children are losing the art of face to face communication.
You need to take control and discipline the use of phones, iPads, computers and electronic games. Make it a rule not to have them in the bedroom. Do you want them sleeping with electromagnetic energy? Children respect limits placed upon them. It means you care!
Take the children out of the house. Teach them old fashioned ways to have fun. Give them an appreciation of nature. Invite other families over to share a meal and conversation. Include the children in the same meal and let them contribute to the discussion. You will be developing their skills and their self esteem.
Even if you don’t have children, spend quality time with family and friends. Take a day out of your busy schedule to relax and rejuvenate. Cherish who you are and spoil yourself with things to make your heart sing! It will benefit you in so many ways”.
This message from Spirit strikes a chord with me. I see it every day when speaking to clients about their lives. One client shared with me something her grandson had said to her recently. “I wish I could do home schooling, then I could spend more time with Mum!” Wow, did that pull on my heartstrings!
I can remember speaking to one of my friends a long while ago. He gave me some advice he was given as a young dad with three young children. The first bit of advice was to spend 15 – 20 minutes each night with your children when you first get home from work. This satisfies them and they will leave you alone for a while. If you don’t do this, they will pester you until you do!
The second piece of advice was to go on a family holiday every year for at least two to four weeks. He followed this advice and did not regret it. He felt it was sound advice with many benefits.
Last night I went to a Cat Stevens concert. Someone in the audience requested “Cats in the Cradle”. Singer Ron Vincent (amazing and sounded just like the real Cat Stevens) assured us “Cats in the Cradle” was not ever sung by Cat Stevens. It is a song written and sung by Harry Chapin. However, he sang it anyway!
I was reminded of my days as a preschool teacher when we discussed “Cats in the Cradle” at a parents meeting. The song’s meaning reflects Spirit’s message today!
The theme of “ Cats in the Cradle” confirms the message of how a busy life causes a disconnection with family and friends. Another underlying message is our behaviour ultimately can affect the behaviour of others. They can become like us – too busy to spend time with family!
Take heed of Spirit’s message today. Relax and spend time with family and friends. It will not be wasted. The effects on your family will be everlasting!
