For the first 30 years of my life I was disconnected from my body. I was living in my head, abusing my body with drugs, alcohol, food binges and critical thoughts. When I started healing I put my body through more abuse with fasting, subconsciously cleansing my shame. It took 10 years of deep work — becoming aware of and releasing subconscious patterns, repressed emotions and negative conditioning — to finally love and appreciate my body.
Loving your body means taking care of its basic needs: healthy food that makes your body feel good, correcting nutritional deficiencies, exercise, deep breathing, drinking filtered water throughout the day, using natural skin and cleaning products, getting enough sleep, connection and touch from others, loving thoughts about your body, being in silence and solitude, meditation to bring your awareness to your body and to the feelings in your body and listening to your body.
Learning how to love your body will heal your body naturally, increasing your connection with, and living more from, your heart. Your body is a gift, it’s the only thing you really can rely on to tell you the truth. You can’t believe your thoughts, the news, books or anyone else. Your truth is expressed in your body and through your emotions. What is your body telling you? Do you have a chronic symptom or disease? Those are signs that you are ready to break a psychological and/or emotional pattern. If you ignore the signs, you will remain stuck. Your soul wants growth and knows what you need, resistance to growth will show up as physical and emotional discomfort. Become aware of and release what is causing you suffering and move towards the things that bring you joy. Your body and emotions are your guidance system.
Thank you, body. Thank you for everything you do for me, for dialoguing with me, for being so wise. Thank you for always letting me know exactly what I need to know to grow and develop. Thank you for allowing me to grow. Thank you for doing so much — going through so much — so I may grow. Body, you are so smart, you never lie, you are my greatest ally. Thank you for everything you show me. I love you, body. Thank you, body.
